SUNDAY SCHOOL

MISSION

The mission of a Sunday School in an Orthodox Church is to educate children and youth about the history, traditions, and practices of the Orthodox faith, aiming to instill a deep understanding of Orthodox Christian beliefs and values, thereby passing on the faith to the next generation through regular teaching, prayer, and participation in sacraments, ultimately preparing them to become active and committed members of the church community.

Key aspects of an Orthodox Sunday School mission:

  • Teaching core Orthodox doctrines:

In-depth study of the Bible, Church history, sacraments, and important figures within the Orthodox tradition.

  • Nurturing spiritual growth:

Encouraging regular prayer, participation in the Divine Liturgy, and fostering a personal relationship with God.

  • Developing ethical character:

Instilling Orthodox Christian morals and values to guide daily life.

  • Community building:

Fostering a sense of belonging within the Orthodox Church through fellowship and shared learning experiences.

  • Preparing for adulthood:
Equipping young people with the knowledge and tools to navigate challenges and live their faith as mature Orthodox Christians.
